Digital Adoption ... done right!

In the world of “Digital Transformation/Adoption”, we all have seen the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Today, I will share a good story from the restaurant industry.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to discover a new seafood restaurant in Samut Prakan. It’s a big place, full most days and every week-end, and I was a bit anxious about the expected chaos and long waiting time.

But the experience turned out to be a good and interesting one.

Queueing:

When we arrived, there was about 10/15 people already waiting for a table. To manage the queue and optimise the customer seating, you scan a QR Code to get your queue number.

A very simple text based apps, that would provide you the time and queue number.
Nothing fancy, but does the job. You knew exactly how many people were in front of the queue.

And if you are not regarding the location of your table, you have the option to skip the queue.
Love this.

Ordering and Seating:
Once you are near getting a table, you can start ordering the food from the same apps.
Again, no frills apps, but something that works!

Once you have been seated, your food is already on the way, and arrived shortly, minimising the waiting time.

Food Delivery:
The kitchen is actually a bit separated from where you sit, and there is a conveyor belt to transport it from the kitchen.
Each dish is tracked (table, ordering time, status, and delivery time), and information is available on the simple apps. At every moment, you know the status of your orders.

There is also robots delivery food and drinks to some tables.

Check, Please:
When it’s time to pay, you also use the web apps to settle the bill, you can add/remove items if they were not delivered, and you can pay cash or directly from the apps.

Summary

It was a very good user experience with a simple solution. I did not have the time to ask, but this must have been designed by an engineer very familiar with process, maybe from the manufacturing industry.
The food was good too, so I recommend the place and here is the link:
